    Outback Ideas Recovery points

Hi guys, Just got a set of D40 Outback Ideas recovery points off ebay. When fitting I found that on taking out the old bolts I damaged the threads on 2 of the bolts (1 each side). :suicide2: Replaced the bolts and 1 side (passenger) is all good and torqued up nicely. The other side has 1...

    Power Steering Pump blowing off

Is the leak coming from a split in a rubber boot on the steering arm? I have had a similar problem. Ends up that I punctured the boot in a mud Hole and got some nice mud inside. This has worn out the seal in the steering rack and I am leaking a reasonable amount of fluid til I get it repaired (...

    Desperate D40 problem after service

Pulled mine yesterday and cleaned it. It was black with what looked like soot! Haven't really noticed much difference in the performance today but will see if there is a change in economy this tank of fuel. I will be cleaning this regularly as I don't want it to die on me. Regards Murph

    EGR mod on d40

Done this a few weeks ago and so far have not noticed too much on accelleration / power low down but fuel economy improved from 11.4 l/100k to 10.8 l/100k. I haven't reset the ECU since it was changed. Will probably do that after another tank when I reconfirm fuel consumption. Murph

    Poor cold starting, glow plugs?

Just take each plug out and check it visually. If there is corrosion/burning/wear on the tip replace it. There - now you don't have to buy a new multi-meter  I didn't have a multi-meter and had to do this after 100k - 120k miles on my old 1.9 TD Citroen. Not sure how east they are...

    Gladstone Nissan

I bought my 08 D40 from their Used car place but never used the main dealership for servicing. I usually do my own fluids and filters. I will get in contact with them about the alloy wheel issue though. If you do use them for the service please post up how it goes. Regards Murph
