Hello all I have joined the forum in the hope that I can sort out a couple of issues with my Dad's 2007 D40 Navara. I'll do some searching of the forum but I may have to ask a few questions at some stage.

Hey Scotty,
Welcome to the forum
Hopefully the answer to Dads problem is just a click away.
What sorts is he facing?

Thanks for the welcome. The main problem is it will start and drive ok but if you switch it off it will start for a couple of seconds and then stall. It will do this repeatably but if you turn it off and wait a minute or two it will start again and drive. It does appear to run a little rough at idle though.

mine did the same for a while Its an '09 Thai built d40. Prone to stalling at the lights etc & then had to have a minute before it would run.Change the fuel filter if you haven't recently, dose it up with fuel/tank cleaner to get rid of water & algae in the tank & if that doesn't do it try a new suction control valve. They are all things you can do yourself, tho the scv is a bit of a pain to get at. I like to pump the fuel thru & fill the outlet hose from the f/filter before I connect it finally too...just to keep air out of the system.
Works for me anyway.
Good luck
Pete

Hello Pete thanks very much for your reply. I just put some injector cleaner and fuel system cleaner in and went for a good drive.
You wouldn't believe it but it runs much better and starts consistently now after switching it off.

Good start Scotty. Glad it helped. Not sure why but the rest of your response didn't,t show up here, re the fault codes. I suspect yours might be a Spanish nav, rather than the Thai built. I can't help you with codes its throwing, mine has never given me anything there, but I'm sure the huge brains trust that contribute here will be able to come up with some good advice.

Hey Pete I edited my post because I left a connector unplugged accidentally when I took the codes. I replaced the fuel filter today. It is running much better but it will still stall on occasion after restarting it. When this happens the CEL comes on. The scanner is getting a P0409 code. Powertrain Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor "A" Circuit High.

Can't help you with that one Scotty. Mine hasn't thrown any codes ever (360k klm+). When mine had the restart problem, turning the ignition right off & then having another go seemed to reset it, & it would run again. Since swapping out the scv
I've had no stalling, no hard starting. Old Tony ( pops up on here quite often) or some of the other brains trust might be able to give you more insight. Keep running the fuel system cleaner etc. I would imagine it's going to take a while to make a big difference to things like injectors. Check the electrical connections round the EGR system maybe.
Good luck.
