Yep. Just drive it and enjoy the drive. The only guarantee you get, is like anything mechanical- at some point it's going to break down and that goes for any make from your Nav to the to the space shuttle.

You know the deal- service it heaps, don't rev the ring out it, be nice to it and you'll delay that day that it happens.

Timing chain replaced on Monday/Tuesday by Bartlett Automotive in Raymond Terrace.

Highly recommend Dean to anyone in Newcastle needing this work done.

The same chain guide was scored and worn but not broken as others have experienced and the chain was stretched. Sorted it before it became bad I guess so ... to ease the pain of the cost I suppose I've bought $3000 worth of piece of mind.

Engine is much quieter cold and warm.

Cudos to the YD25 company for taking the initiative to visit the Newcastle region and demonstrate their product. Tapped into a previously untapped area very nicely.

I have often wondered about the ratio of manual to auto's that have had the chain problem, having come from the D22 ZD30 I found the D40 yd25 manual has a lot more torque down low and it's quite easy to be lazy and let the engine labour and pull away in the wrong gear, I imagine it would be similar to riding a motor bike in the wrong gear, when you labour a bike the chain will shudder/rattle around and eventually the chain guide wears out, I would imagine the chain and guides in the engine would be under similar stress when laboured.

I wasn't aware yd25 were in town, would have liked too eyeball there product
how long was ute out of action?
what do you drive and how many ks?
I am considering some major engine mods and the chain will need replacing as part of those mods
cheers

I think he came down because I prompted him that I wanted mine done & Dean was keen to give the kit a crack. Maybe he just visited workshops in the Terrace?

My D40 is an 08 outlaw (Spanish) with 111000 km. Dropped off Monday finished Tuesday & collected weds but I believe Dean put in long hrs to get it done being the first he'd done so in reality prob more like 3-4 "normal" days.
