We have Amberley air base and Oakey air base with plenty of Blackhawks and Kiowa aircraft, and we have the Westpac chopper, QFRS have fixed and rotary wing assets too. I don't think a lack of aircraft is an issue. The conditions have been too dangerous for them in some locations.
I am originally from Toowoomba, one of the people who was killed was a class mate of mine in high school, pretty sad really. I think there will be plenty more to come too unfortunately. Glad my family and friends up there are all safe and sound. Now it's our turn here in Brisbane to cop it....

^ Good point, there is a army base 45 mins away from here I forgot about a air force base the other way around a 30 min drive.

I work at Oakey army base on the tiger helicopter simulator. You guys may not realise Oakey army aviation center is a training base. The aircraft may be there but there are not enough qualified pilots to fly them they are mostly trainee pilots. Another thing you don't take into account is, not all the aircraft are servicable, even if there were 20+ blackhawk which there isn't, at most only 10 world fly. If the australian public knew the real state of servicability of our defence assets you would all be shocked.
Besides Oakey has been evacuated, the airfield is flooded. Plus the army and RAAF can't be expected to put a blackhawk in the air @ $35000 an hour whenever someone needs help. A police asset is much cheaper and always available. These military helicopters are very specialised piexes of kit and are extremely expensive to run. Not a realistic option except in very extreme circumstance.

I'm sure there will be many like him, and I reckon there should be some of the donation money recieved go towards a wage of some sort as well as the relief component that you get for your losses of home/property etc.

I dare say they will do a simalar thing with bush fire victims.They all got about $150,000.00 in grants from the donated money and then red x kicked in with vouchers for white goods and clothes and the like,and all claim their insurance
I would probably classify this as extreme circumstances....??

Nope, a catchment gets a good very heavy drop in a very short time. The ground is already sodden, so that absorbs none of it and the only place to go is down stream. If lots of the catchment are now hard surfaced or sodden and the creeks are all straight and cleared and clearly defined, it all just comes together very quickly into effectively a wall of water.
Biscuits has basically confirmed this for Toowoomba. If we had some decent mapping on google maps or whereis, then you should be able o select things like catchments and streams and see this.

The only problem is, Brisbane is about to get punished for calling itself Brisvegas for so many years. The problem with densly populated areas is, there is a higher density of dense people. So the ***** factor is a lot higher and people are more selfish.

best way too look how crap Toowomba is laid out for flood prevention. This bridge is in the middle of town. Under it flows one of the 2 creeks mention above. The video of me driving past McDonalds (Blue Roof) and stopping to film the river, thats is this intersection. the rescue seen in other video is at small brown roof on bridge. Give you some idea of water flow. Remembering that i filmed this 30-40 minutes before flood wave seen on news.

One NSW one is almost resident in my back yard. Seems I hear it in the area about once a week. Mostly when they are trying to round someone up. Now the spotlight on a nav would be vey very interesting.

I think you'll find there is a few Brisbanites on this forum who say they live in Brisvegas, either way it's good too see some people can find some humor in things even if it is just a little bit.
Biscuits I'm interested to hear ARB's response when you asked for a canopy, despite knowing my local ARB bloke I can't say they've ever been really helpful or quick, but under such conditions I can't imagine ARB will be shipping to many canopy's your way soon.
