D40 Engine Removal

Hey Guys
New to this forum , i am looking to replace a Thai built D40 engine. My Navara engine is cooked. Its a 2010 , D40 , Automatic diesel, 2.5L, 128kw, If there are any videos going around showing the engine removal will be much appreciated.

I'd have to ask the guys that took my engine out (I am unable to do that myself, and left the task to mechanics). I know my bonnet was removed, I could see the spanner marks on the bonnet mounting bolts. I didn't get underneath (it's difficult to do, these days, I am wearing out a little faster than I was hoping).

How much damage is there?

This is a bloke in South West, Western Australia removing the engine from his D40. It's a Spain (VSK).

As he says "you have to remove so much stuff to get to something else"



Then the infamous Des from Yorkshire.

Easy make sure u have a engine crane or gantry..also take small sump off to ease removal drain oil first.also remove fuel filter.

I struggled so bad with my engine out. Had to lower the front diff. Strip most of the exhaust side of engine in situe. That was a nightmare. Don't recommend this if your on a timescale. Took me nearly a month working on evenings after work. To do a head swap and change clutch. These are not ready engines to work on. Like playing tetris with engine parts.

If you have the tools, skills, patience,space and time it's an easy job. If you are missing any of them it's painful!! You need to be systematic when stripping out parts. Making sure you clean them before moving on to the next piece too, it makes putting it back together so much easier.
It will take you a good 20 hours to do it correctly.

One annoying thing with the nivara was having to empty the air con system sure to a pipe being posted through the front slam panel. Nissan could have quite easily avoided this with a little fore thought.
