2004 D22 AC Unit problem

Hi all, I have a D22 and the AC Unit only work's when I turn on max (4). 1, 2 or 3 don't work but 4 does. Also it blows air from the front and only the front. Can't use demister or leg setting. Is this a faulty unit or a short somewhere?

the fan sounds like the fan resistor is blown. the resistor controls speeds 1,2,3.

The fan resistor is near the air intake close to the evaporator about $20 on ebay or $90 from nissan. Its more likely the flap doors are stuck or a lever come off drive motor so you cant adjust air flow.

Here is a good thread about the replacement of the fan speed resistor and how to get access to it.
I recently replaced this on my sons D22 2010.
Also found that he fan blower was tight which caused the resistor to fail in the first place. And unfortunately the one i replaced it with.
It was definitely easier to get to the resistor with the fan blower out which is 3 screws and a connector and vent pipe.

I also have the problem of flaps not working on D22 2005 model. Can one get to them at all? Feels like they are cable operated as there is a lot of drag on the dash lever.
