    Oil catch can and egr

I bought a D40 last month. Within a fortnight I fitted a catch can and removed the EGR system. For me, it's not even a discussion. Any modern turbo diesel should have a catch can. In fact, many other engines (diesel and petrol) benefit from them. Especially forced induction. But I understand...

Side Step fixed bolts snapped off.

This must be a thing. The D40 I recently bought came with a slightly loose factory side step on the port side.....and a factory side step sitting in the tub....like a souvenir. Apparently Old Mate bashed it so hard the mounting points are a write off on the starboard side. He was a bit sheepish...

How to keep a d22 with 386000kms on it going strong?

Exactly. Diesels with a charge air cooler make more power because they were designed & manufactured with it. Slightly denser air charge across the range and slightly more fuel injected....from the design. Adding the cooler to a non-cooled engine (and changing nothing else) will have a pretty...

    D40 Navara Clutch pedal issues

I have a similar situation that I'm currently figuring out. Just bought my D40 about a month ago. It has very recently had a new clutch and new dual mass flywheel (DMF) installed by previous owner & local mechanic. Apparently they chose a "heavy duty" after market combo....(??) I've driven...

    Speedo not accurate

I get frustrated following people that sit just below the posted speed limit, because I've known for years that their actual speed is up to 10% lower than they think it is (assuming they're not aware of the speedometer ADR's). I always cruise a couple of km/h over the posted limit for this...

2009 Nissan Navara making noise when turned off

That's freaky. I'd check everything on the serp. belt. Maybe the viscous clutch on the fan is buggered & it's spinning on inertia? Might be a idle control valve or the EGR gone spastic. It sort of sounded like a crook solenoid or stepper motor...? Does the ECU close the intake butterfly at shut...

Parts Wanted Service exchange V9X engine

Machined? Sure. Replaced... I dunno. I was told there was a machine shop in Vic that was manufacturing new cranks for a while, but they gave it away because they couldn't get a reliable supply of rods and they weren't happy with the end result. Our local diesel specialist rebuilt a couple of...

Nice one. But what about the crank?

How to keep a d22 with 386000kms on it going strong?

Oops. I'm a plonker. ZD30 has only been mentioned about 50 times!:LOL: Reduced EGT's ? Hmmm....maybe on a hot day, under high load, the maximum EGT achieved might be lower because the cooler intake charge has a limiting effect when the engine is producing maximum heat ?? But under...

How to keep a d22 with 386000kms on it going strong?

Think of the intercooler as "air density modifier". The change (hopefully reduction) in intake temperature is just a function of the real design brief - which is to increase the density of the charge air and then inject slightly more fuel to match. As for longevity of the engine with/without...

    Light me up!

So after much googling & YouTubing & procrastinating, I ordered these because they were having a 15% off sale. I'll follow up with a review after I fit 'em. https://supernovalighting.com.au/products/7-inch-led-driving-lights-intense

    V9X D40 Losing oil

It's possible one or more cylinders have either a cracked piston ring or a stuck ring due to crap building up between piston & liner... But I think Tony probably picked it with the turbo oil. Seems more likely. Maybe the valve guides are tired? How many kms travelled? Worked hard &...

Parts Wanted Service exchange V9X engine

I remember speaking with a guy in WA who was/is known for supplying rebuilt V9X's. He had at least one new crate engine from Nissan. And he was stockpiling used V9X's for parts. But he wasn't interested in selling any of it yet.

Parts Wanted Service exchange V9X engine

Well he needed a working ute immediately, so he bought another D40 (yd25) and we swapped a few upgrade parts from the 550. The truck has been sitting in the yard for a few months while we think about the next step. We haven't ruled out an LS1 or VK56 conversion... but paying local conversion...

    D40 yd25 piston removal

Totally agree. If you suspect that the whole motor needs a tear down & inspect, then just commit to removing it. More work initially, but much better overall. Obviously depends the tools & shed available.

Parts Wanted Service exchange V9X engine

My old man's V9X recently failed. I made a lot of calls (around Australia) including a Nissan dealer. There was bugger all support out there for the 6 cylinder diesel unfortunately. You might have better luck, but I couldn't find a workshop that would rebuild ours because there's no more engine...

    Light me up!

I've been looking at the Olsta products at Navlife.com.au. Anyone have any experience? There's very little online about the brand. Just a video of the company staff trying (in vain) to destroy them! Maybe they're a good compromise between the fleabay casino stuff and full price brand-name...

    Light me up!

My old man's place is in the bush at the end of a dirt road. There's hundreds of critters on the road at night. He knows when the forestry workers have been through the area because there's an increase in roadkill. They don't brake, swerve or avoid :(
