    Tl1000R. Suzuki. 70,000km and counting. Have to do the valve shins one day. Change the oil every year whether it needs it or not, lol. No fun to ride on the road unless it’s the wee small hours of the morning.

    After reading all of this post, I’m wondering why u don’t just go for a hydrogen generation unit set up. Economy and power is there. They work. A mate has one on his semi trailer. It’s the future of any compression (diesel) motor anyway. Just a thought.

    Hi. If u have a misfire, check compression especially on no 1 cyl. I take it u reseated the valves on head. Don’t take much for a diesel to lose enough compression to run rough. Checked injectors??

    I also have the problem of flaps not working on D22 2005 model. Can one get to them at all? Feels like they are cable operated as there is a lot of drag on the dash lever.

    This probably won’t help at all, but my zd 30 is hard to start as well, but always the same. Lights up on one cylinder and then catches on after a couple seconds. Engine, glow plugs etc all good and runs perfect. The thing is that it starts the best with foot off the pedal-go figure.

    Before replacing thermostat( new or tested) , drill one or two 3/4 mm holes in skirt. This will make sure the bimetal spring has water flow and opens thermo. Engines with horizontal thermostats as in early Subarus had this problem which would cause severe overheating. I do it to any thermostat ...

    Diesels hate air (and water ) in the fuel. U can spend ages tracking the air bubble probelem, a quick and cheap fix ($20 or so) can be installing an in line electric fuel pump in the pick up line coming from fuel tank. Closer to tank the better but near the engine firewall is ok. Find a wire...

    Maybe I need to add that when I say clean, that does not mean it looks like new, just that the oil has not reached its capacity to keep engine clean. Yes it goes dark by 5k, but is not black, does not stain

    Ummm. Oil goes black because of blow by and soot from poorly burnt fuel. The whole object of these motors is to burn clean, good for the motor , good for the environment. The trade off is complexity of the self monitoring bits.

    2005 D22 with 3.0 l motor. Just clocked 250k and oil stays clean -never had a diesel that does that. Bought at an auction some months ago with a few problems which have now been fixed.

    It can be a good idea to sit in the drivers seat either during the alignment if the mechanic will let u or when it’s done but still on the machine. See how everything looks then. Makes a significant difference on most newer vehicles with softer suspension and independent systems.
