After trip clean up - what do you do?

Give the underbody a good coat of Knock-Out Rust Proof - KO-66 about 4 weeks before you hit the sand. 4wks will allow it to dry properly. it will last a good year or two. or you could spray it with lanolin before and after. both options are a lot more friendly to the beach then used engine...

    which oils to use?

My vote goes to Caltex Delo 400 Multigrade. Meets requirements Buy in 20L drums (~$95) as it's quater of the price of the 5L containers (~$44)

    Smokey zd30

if it's black smoke it will be injectors/too rich. if it's grey will be burning oil. possibly turbo seal. and you will notice it on deceleration after you give it a boot full if steam it will be coolant. but you'll notice it at idle

    Doubts about buying a D22

Rufus, I was the same when I bought mine. But after I researched them all I realised they all have there problems. I choose the Navara as it was a more sensible price, good fuel economy (comparing to patrol and landcruiser) and had good aftermarket support. If I wasn't doing so many kms I prob...

    Turbo Timer Question

With the seeminingly high turbo failures on the D22 TD I'd reccomend you install one. The handbrake on the D22 are fairly good (well I've never had a problem). If you park on a steep incline just warm it down manually and leave it in gear. When pottering around town I leave it run for 1 min so...

What warrenty work has your D22 had done.

i had that same pipe split. if otheres are still running the original it's a good thing to check. best to remove it to check it properly. on another note still chasing up Garry Crick Noosaville for the drivers window seal surround. After the 4th call to them they came up with the excuse it's...

    Gov't/Police crappy road safety strategies

the combined red light/speed camera is a evil idea.

    Soft roaders

the misses owns a 07 grand vitara. i choose it as it had low range and locking centre diff. with a lift kit it would do very well and would be no soft roader. we got the v6 and it's a bit thirsty. we test drove the 4cyl and it was a bit gutless. the turbo diesel would be my pick but wasn't...

    Electronic Rust Protection

No worries, but don't get me wrong lanolin on its own should be alright. Just when you combine it with tar based rust protectants it becomes a problem.

    Electronic Rust Protection

As well as the couplertec I also use knock out rust. It's a combination of tar, fish oil and lanolin. It stick around for a year or two. Last time i hit the beach I also gave it a soaking in lanolin. Not such a good idea... just made a very sticky mess and the sand just stuck to it which is...

    Electronic Rust Protection

I went with a couplertec 4 pad. There are a lot out there Cathodic systems out there which do not suit vehicles. These are designed for structures and boats which are in contact with a ground.

    Adding 2-Stroke oil to Diesel

I've gone through about 10 tank loads using 2 stroke now. I'm happy with the results :) I'm running it through my old 2.8L hilux as well and it's definately made a improvement in noise and economy. Krankin, I'm warry of what i read on the internerd as well. But there is no doubt it's very...
